Questions about the Debt Audit, a correction, or an idea for a guide? Send a message below.

Good reasons to get in touch

  • Corrections: a figure, rule or link that’s wrong or out of date. Please include the page and, if you can, a source.
  • Questions about the tools: how the Debt Audit or a calculator reached a result. The formulas are also on How the audit works.
  • Feedback and ideas for guides or calculators.

We can’t give individual advice. American Debt Guide isn’t a law firm, credit counselor or financial advisor, so we can’t tell you what to do about your own debt. Please don’t send account numbers, Social Security numbers or other sensitive details.

Where to find free help

  • To see which options fit your numbers: the Debt Audit. It’s free, and nothing you enter is stored or sent.
  • For a budget review or a debt management plan: a nonprofit credit counselor. See credit counseling for how to choose one.
  • For bankruptcy or a lawsuit: a bankruptcy attorney. Some offer a free first consultation, and a local legal aid office may help if your income is low. See bankruptcy.
  • To report a scam or a problem with a financial company: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or the Federal Trade Commission.
